Teachers - Grade 6 Social Studies & Math
As a little girl playing school with my sisters was one of my favourite things to do! I always knew I wanted to become a teacher. I grew up in Strathmore with my mom and three sisters and still live in the area.
I got my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Lethbridge and my Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary. I started off my career in education as an Educational Assistant with junior high students, and have now been teaching for 8 years. I have taught Early Literacy, Kindergarten, Grade One and Grade Six. I have learned many things along the way in my many different teaching spots and they have made me the teacher I am today.
I have a 12 year old daughter and she is heavily involved in Highland Dance. We live on a farm and I like to garden and work in my yard. I am an avid reader and love to sit on my deck in the summer and read my book! I have a passion for baking and decorating cakes (I have even made a few wedding cakes)!
I love collecting quotes and getting inspiration from them and sharing those with my students. Here are a couple of my favourites…
“The most extraordinary thing about the oyster is this. Irritation gets into his shell. He does not like them. But when he cannot get rid of them he uses the irritation to do the loveliest thing an oyster ever has the chance to do. If there are irritations in our lives today, there is only one prescription: make a pearl.”
