Teachers - 1C
“It doesn’t matter whether you think you can or think you can’t; either way you will be right.”
This quote exemplifies what I believe, and the values that I endeavour to instil in my young charges. Teaching is not only my chosen profession, it is my passion and my hobby; I always have several new projects on the go! I strive to not only make coming to grade one a positive experience for the children, but for them to believe in themselves and their abilities as a learner.
I grew up in Calgary, graduated from the U of C and began my career as a kindergarten teacher in both Gleichen and Hussar. After a couple of years, Gleichen was in need of a grade one teacher and that classroom became my home for many years. The year my son, Spencer, began kindergarten I was proud to become a member of the Westmount staff. How quickly the years go by, he is now a university graduate!
When I am not working on classroom pursuits you will find me on the ski slopes, at the gym, on my bike, hiking in the mountains, or running around town. In the last few years I have discovered that I LOVE not only being active, but competing in triathlons, duathlons, and other races. My new motto is, “It’s not important to come in first, it is just important that you are out there doing what you love to do!”
"Do good because good is good to do.”
